Not necessarily to code

Can anybody imagine such a sight at a fair in the United States? I can’t even guess how many code violations can be found in this picture alone, never mind throughout the rest of the Dia de la Virgen de Guadalupe festival.

But the thing is, everything went off without a hitch – all the vendors had access to electricity, there were no fires, no blackouts.

I’m not sure what kind of presence the municipal government has during events like these, and perhaps inspectors were working behind the scenes to ensure that everything was safe for consumption. Regardless, what appeared to be a confounded mess of electrical wires was connected with more skill and expertise than meets the eye.
